La Jolla neighborhoods

There are sixteen (16) sub-neighborhoods in the La Jolla area, all under the 92037 zip code.

1) La Jolla Farms

Located in the North end of La Jolla and within walking distance of the world famous Black’s Beach, this area is across the street from the UCSD campus. La Jolla Farms enjoys some of the largest oceanfront lots in La Jolla, along with some of the areas most spectacular Ocean views!

2) La Jolla Shores

The La Jolla Shores location offers a wonderful access to the largest public beach in the La Jolla area…La Jolla Shores beach. Perfect for year round swimming and with excellent surfing spots. The La Jolla Shores area has its own small shopping section and is a favorite among locals for its superb restaurants…including the world renown  oceanfront ‘Marine Room’ restaurant.

3) La Jolla Heights

A north La Jolla neighborhood with superb ingress and egress to the UCSD campus, freeways, hospitals and beaches. La Jolla Shores Heights features many single family homes with larger yards and family friendly floor plans.

4) Hidden Valley

At the gateway to La Jolla, this family friendly neighborhood is sought after for its lush landscaping, quick access to the village and the La Jolla Shores beach. Featuring homes on larger lots that enjoy ocean views, Hidden Valley is an easy recommendation.

5) Country Club

As its name suggests, the Country Club area is named for its proximity to the La Jolla Country Club facility…and the beautiful club house and golf course that frame the club. The area is close to the village of La Jolla, yet it has an aura of country living due to the rolling hills of Soledad Mountain. Featuring some of the best ocean views in La Jolla and with vistas to the north coast, this is the destination spot for many.

6) Village

The village area is highlighted by its shopping and local restaurants. Homes in this area are sought after by anyone who wants to walk to all that the village offers. The world famous “La Jolla Cove” is a highlight for nature lover and Ocean lover alike. Minutes to the La Jolla Contemporary Museum of Art, the many eclectic shops, the Athenaeum for music and the many offices and banks, the village area truly offers something for everyone.

7) Beach-Barber Tract

An old English style home, or a old Spanish style home, both are to be found in this wonderful area that is minutes from the village but featuring its own unique character. Walk to the world famous Sea Lane beach and minutes to the ‘Windansea’ beach, ideal for surf lovers and bathers alike. The home of some of the best known architectural styles in San Diego.

8) Lower Hermosa

Home to the world famous street of dreams…’Camino De La Costa’. The oceanfront homes in this locale are some of the most desired on the West Coast! Magnificent lots with larger custom homes dominate the neighborhood. Walk to ‘Windansea’ beach, made famous by the Beach Boys!

9) Birdrock

The southern area of La Jolla, featuring its own small shopping center and some of the areas best restaurants. A family friendly neighborhood with the award winning ‘Birdrock’ elementary school up the street. Named after the famous ‘Birdrock’ which is a large off-shore rock well known for its bird resting place.

10) Muirlands

The world famous ‘Muirlands’ area features some of the largest lots in the La Jolla area. Many with spectacular north and western ocean views! Reminiscent of a European country side, the area is lush and scenic. The area also features access within minutes to the village and the beaches.

11) La Jolla Mesa

On the south side of La Jolla, this area highlights some of the most beautiful ocean vistas looking to the south. A panoramic overlook of San Diego and the Coronado islands of Baja California, are to be found here. This area also features many homes that enjoy the ocean and bay view! A nighttime spectacular!

12) La Jolla Alta

The La Jolla Alta area is one of the newer areas in La Jolla. Many homes face south and west and enjoy over 200 days a year of sunshine. Along with the southern ocean views, larger pool sized lots are common.

13) Soledad South

On the southern face of Mount Soledad sits Soledad South. A perfect area for the large family that desires quick access to the southern exits from La Jolla. Ideal for buyer’s who are looking for a slightly larger home, but at a slightly lower entry level pricing.

14) Muirlands West

Minutes to the Muirlands Junior High school and the La Jolla High school campus, homes in this area enjoy western ocean views, a great family neighborhood and are within minutes to the beaches and shops of the village.

15) Upper Hermosa

Across from the Lower Hermosa area and featuring many homes with a classic European flair. This neighborhood of La Jolla boasts upscale and pristine residences with mature landscaping. Upper Hermosa is similar to its sister area of Lower Hermosa, but since it is located east of the La Jolla Boulevard, it is a bit further from the ocean.

16) La Jolla Village

The northern tip of La Jolla and abutting to the UCSD campus, the La Jolla village area features a number of condominium communities that offer a wide range of amenities. Minutes to the freeways and to the University Towne Center shopping mall. Movie theaters and supermarkets are also within walking distance of this neighborhood.
